Ingredient Analysis

COSRX Shield Fit All Green Comfort Sun is formulated for sensitive skin, with 100% mineral (physical) UV-filters: Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide. However, they do not disclose the percentage amount of each.

The choice of mineral filters is appropriate as they are typically recommended for those with sensitive skin. They are the gentlest types of UV filters which have the lowest risk of sensitization.

This sunscreen is not silicon free, however. Silicones are amazing ingredients which provides hydration and also improve the feel/texture of a product, but for some, it can be sensitizing. If you don’t have silicon sensitivity, then this sunscreen would not be a problem for you.

Centella Asiatica (Cica) also makes an appearance here – great for soothing irritated skin while also being able to stimulate collagen production to help repair a damaged skin barrier. Chamomile is also included further boosting the calming and antioxidant effects of this sunscreen.

In typical COSRX fashion, the All Green Comfort Sun also includes one of K-beauty popular ingredients – Snail Mucin, to help hydrate, soothe, and repair skin. But, this sits pretty low on the ingredient list, and it’s not called out in COSRX’s marketing, so this may be in a very minimal amount for textural/hydration purposes.

One big thing which we don’t like on the list is the inclusion of essential oil (Clary Sage Oil), especially on a product which is targeted towards those with sensitive skin. Fragrant essential oils (EO) are notoriously sensitizing because the compounds in EO which are responsible for its scent are highly volatile – meaning that it can irritate skin! Yes, there are antioxidant and other positive benefits of EO, but the negatives simply outweigh the benefits.

Experience & Feel

The COSRX Shield Fit All Green Comfort Sun is rated at SPF 50+ and PA ++++, which gives you excellent broad-spectrum protection. This sunscreen achieves the maximum rating of UVA protection on the PA scale, so that’s very impressive.

While this sunscreen is not rated to be waterproof, it’s not easily removable with water. However, do still reapply sunscreen regularly especially if you’re outdoors and sweating.

We can’t evaluate how this would react for someone with sensitive skin. But, just looking at the formula, the only problem ingredient is essential oil, and potentially silicones. If you know that essential oil gives you issues, and/or you have silicone sensitivity, then you should be looking elsewhere

Due to the nature of mineral sunscreens, (unless tinted) they typically have a whitish appearance and can have a white cast when applied. If you don’t like a white cast with your sunscreen, this doesn't leave one after it has fully dried and absorbed.

On application, it feels relatively thick and does not spread very easily. It takes a bit more than initially thought to get full coverage. As soon as it's applied, the scent of sage is very noticeable. However, it does fade away after a few minutes and doesn't linger (thankfully!)

This sunscreen does leave a slight shine. Combined with the thicker texture, we would say that the Shield Fit All Green Comfort Sun is a bit more suited towards those with normal to dry skin.
